AKKA Informatique et Systèmes, located in Toulouse, is an entity of the AKKA Technologies group. AKKA’s ICT expertise covers the design and development of on-line applications (internet/intranet), notably supporting remote co-operation for learning and working processes. CSCL and CSCW both constitute a main line of the company’s R&D strategy. Related company’s achievements call for expertise in synchronous applications, including applications sharing, multimedia conferencing, distributed multimedia annotation and design and deployment of Services Oriented Architectures. AKKA-IS has been very active in European projects, both as partner and coordinator.

One major involvement of AKKA in KP-Lab will be in the research and development of the global technical framework leading to provide architectural bases for all KP-Lab applications with the objective of fulfilling composability and interoperability requirements. On the other hand, AKKA will also lead the development of the Map-it tool and actively contribute to developments of profiling services and real-time communication and multimedia and annotation services. AKKA will also be an active participant in the management of co-design activities.
